  7. Get 1 tablespoon Soy Sauce
  8. Get 1/2 tablespoon Mirin
  9. Get <Marinade>
  10. Prepare 1/2 tablespoon Sake (Rice Wine)

A standard Japanese-style rice bowl would be too small as the tuna slices are placed on top of the rice. You could use a soup bowl or noodle soup bowl instead. Combining sashimi grade tuna and then marinating in a soy and mirin based sauce gives this dish its unique flavour. Remove the tuna from the marinade.

Steps to make Marinated Tuna Sashimi Rice Bowl:
  1. Cut the block of Tuna into 7-8mm thick slices if not sliced yet. Combine the marinade ingredients in a bowl, add Tuna slices and marinate for about 20 minutes.
  2. Note: Mirin and Sake are alcoholic. You may wish to boil the marinade first. Make sure the marinade is cool when you add Tuna.
  3. Half fill a bowl with freshly cooked Short Grain Rice (*OR Sushi Rice), scatter 1 tablespoon of the marinade over the rice, cover with Nori, then place the marinated Tuna slices.
  4. Sprinkle with Spring Onion and Toasted Sesame Seeds, and top with some Wasabi.

Serve the rice in a bowl and top with the spring onion and nori. Add a layer of marinated tuna and garnish with a sprinkling of sesame seeds. If we make rice bowl with sashimi fish (raw fish), we are using Sumeshi. You will be able to find this kind of rice bowl at sushi restaurants. So it is not pure sashimi.
